Tips for success

Set yourself an achievable goal

Setting an achievable goal is an important part of a shape management plan. Your goal may be to feel slimmer or look good in your clothes. By keeping that end goal in mind throughout your plan you will be more likely to stay motivated and succeed.

Don't weigh yourself too often

Weighing yourself once each week is plenty. Use a tape measure to check your waist, bust and hip measurements before you start, and then again at the end of your plan.

Check your portion size

On the 2 week kick-start plan we recommend up to 45g of Special K for each of your two cereal meals each day.

Make every day different

Don't forget, there are 10 delicious varieties of Special K to choose from, so you can try a different flavour every day! And we have loads of great recipes for you to choose from for your main meal each day.

Get support

There's nothing better than having someone to support you when you are trying to achieve a specific goal. Before you start, discuss your plans with your family or friends. By making them aware about what you're going to be doing and why, they are more likely to support you and less likely to tempt you off course with indulgent snacks or crazy nights out. In fact, they may even be inspired to create their own Personal Plan and succeed alongside you.

You can share your experiences, receive support and spur on others in the forums and by finding your very own shape buddy.

Make sure your third meal is nutritionally balanced

For recipe ideas, make sure you visit the Special K recipe book section in the planner, where you can search for popular recipes, specific ingredients, and even inspirational recipes perfect for special occasions. Make sure you tell your plan as much about yourself as possible to make sure it gives you the most appropriate recipes in your meal planner.

Choose when to enjoy your 2nd bowl of Special K

You may prefer to replace your sandwich at lunchtime; or, if you have access to a healthy cooked meal at work, you may choose to replace your evening meal to save cooking at home.

You can change your mind as many times as you'd like, so whether you want to keep a consistent pattern or adjust according to what's going on in your life, you stay in control. Don't forget there are 10 varieties of Special K cereal to choose from so you won't get bored!

Stock up

Make sure you are prepared for any eventuality by stocking up with a selection of Special K cereals and fruit and vegetables for snacks, and make sure you pop some fruit or vegetables into your bag at the start of each day. That way you will reduce the risk succumbing to indulgent snacks when you're out and about. Find out more about sensible snacking.

Drink plenty

Stay well hydrated - in addition to your usual teas and coffees, make sure you drink plenty of water, diluted fruit juices or sugar free squashes.

Top tips for staying hydrated

We often mistake thirst for hunger, so drink plenty to help to stave off false hunger pangs. Even mild dehydration leaves you feeling tired and sluggish, so keep energy levels up on the 2 week kick-start plan by increasing fluid intake. In between every cup of tea or coffee, try to have glass of water or calorie free soft drink Have a glass of water with every meal, experts recommend at least 6-8 non-alcoholic drinks each day.
