After all the hard work you've done getting into shape this
year, choosing the perfect bikini is your chance to show off your
new body and feel fabulous on the beach this summer.
With so many different styles to choose from, it's hard to know
where to start; just apply the same rules as when you buy clothes,
and remember to find a style that will emphasis your best bits and
flatter your figure.
Be aware of fashion trends. Tribal, floral, sporty or white,
pick your favourite look for this season and apply it to your
swimwear.
Wear a sarong
A sarong is an essential piece of your holiday wardrobe.
Remember that it's brilliantly versatile - you can wear it on your
hips, tie it under your arms like a bandeau dress, or wrap it
across your shoulders. Look out for tie-dye and beautiful fringed
styles.
Accessorise your bikini
Don't forget to accessorize. Adding a straw hat, some bangles
and a fabulous beach bag will help you stand out from the crowd
this summer.
If you're pear shaped
If you're pear shaped, look for a bikini that will balance out
your hips and keep you in proportion. Choose a style that will draw
the eye to your top half, where a ruffle, print or a padded cup
will be welcome. Mix and match tops and bottoms to suit you: for
example, choose a bottom in a darker colour and a print on top.
Styles with high cut legs will slim down your hips and thighs; stay
away from boy shorts, which will add width.
If you're an apple shape
A tankini is a great option if you have an apple shaped body. A
high cut leg or a tie side will show off your fabulous legs, whilst
the longer line top will cover your tummy. An underwire-style top
will lift the breasts and elongate the torso.
If you have an athletic frame
Choose feminine styles that will give you curves in all the
right places. Ruffles, embellishments, horizontal stripes, tie
sides and bows will all create curves, whilst a halter neck will
show off your toned arms.
If you're petite
Choose small prints such as polka dots that will compliment your
petite frame. A halter neckline will elongate the body, and
high-cut legs will make your legs appear longer. The important
thing to remember is to keep everything in proportion; look for
small details that won't swamp your figure.
