Being mentally prepared

A key aspect of weight management is being psychologically prepared. We've got some advice to help you  succeed.

Stay focused

Remain focused and committed to making changes by visualising your shape goals and imagining how you will feel when you achieve them.

Be realistic

Ensure your weight loss is gradual. Avoid making drastic changes which can cause you to spiral out of control or are unmanageable - slow and steady wins the race.

Is Accept you will have bad days

Be mentally prepared for lapses and plateaus - this can be noted down in your food diary. Have a plan to deal with this situation and then put that day behind you and look forward.

Look after yourself

Many women can over eat due to emotional triggers and therefore looking after your emotions through stress management, exercising, and having fun socially can help to keep you on track.

Tell your friends

Tell your friends what you are doing and why and then enlist their help to provide extra support.
